School Counselor

Hello, my name is Erin Waterhouse.  It has been an honor these last two years supporting social, emotional and academic growth with students, parents, staff and the community of Mattos Elementary.

My educational background started at Ohlone College, where I received my Associate of Science degree.  After that, I transferred to Cal State Hayward (currently Cal State East Bay), where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an option in Physical Education, as well as my single subject teaching credential in PE.  Finally, after many years, I went back to school and received my Master’s degree along with my PPS credential for school counseling.

I have worked in Fremont Unified for 21 years, starting as a Physical education teacher working with students grades K-8th for 19 years and for the last two years as a school Counselor at Mattos Elementary.

My Goal:

My goal is to build a safe and welcoming environment for students, by encouraging, supporting and empowering them to become successful with their academics, friendships and overall mental health.  By accomplishing this goal, I will be providing a comprehensive counseling program by developing relationships with students through individual and small group counseling.  As well as, creating classroom lessons that are inclusive, providing community resources, crisis counseling, supporting school personnel and collaborating with staff, administrations, parents and the Mattos community.
