Welcome to Millard

Dear Millard Community,

Welcome! My name is Jorge Gonzalez, and I am the Principal at Millard. I am thrilled to be joining the Millard team and I look forward to meeting you all soon. A little bit about me, I have served as a high school, middle school, and elementary school administrator with over 11 years of experience. Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught high school Spanish. Most recently I was the principal at Patterson Elementary for five years. I bring experience, passion for education, and a collaborative approach to Millard. I look forward to meeting and working with you to ensure the academic success and social emotional well-being of your child.

This year will bring new and exciting opportunities for our school community. We will begin utilizing our new Second Step curriculum for social emotional learning. This curriculum will allow teachers and students to build positive relationships and classroom culture. Amplify Science is here! We will begin the implementation of the Amplify Science curriculum this year. This new curriculum will provide students with the opportunities to explore diverse topics and to further develop their passion for science. Lastly, we will begin the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) journey this year along with other elementary schools in our district. We will learn about PBIS and begin to take a deeper look at our current practices at Millard regarding behavior and interventions. We will continue to update you on our progress throughout the year.

As we continue on-campus instruction after COVID-19, we will be focusing on what makes Millard Elementary such an amazing place. “We Are Millard”, will be the theme for this year. All of us will dig deeper during the year to get to the core values, traditions, stories, and relationships that make our school great. In the process we will also look at the things that need to be aligned with our positive school culture and values. All this information will guide our PBIS work as well as provide us with the data to guide the work that we do to educate our students. I look forward to learning more about Millard from you and your child.

Lastly, if you child tests positive for COVID or has COVID symptoms, please have them stay home and notify the school. Masks are optional but strongly recommended. We will provide additional information as it becomes available. On behalf of the Millard Elementary staff, I wish you an amazing school year.

In Partnership,

Jorge D. Gonzalez, Ed.D.
