Panther News and Updates

We’ve had a wonderful “Say Hello” Week, with so many of our Panthers reaching out to new students and showing kindness and compassion as they build new friendships.

Coming up on Wednesday, September 24, it’s Parkmont’s turn to present at the FUSD Board Meeting! This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight what makes our school so special. While our time is short (just 10 minutes), we’re proud to have two PTA representatives and several students sharing their voices.

We’d love to see families join us in showing that Panther spirit!

📍 FUSD District Office, 4210 Technology Drive
🕡 Wednesday, September 24 at 6:30 PM

If you can’t make it in person, the meeting will also be live-streamed on the FUSD Board website.

Thank you, as always, for being such valued partners in your children’s education!

Parkmont Basketball

Basketball Coach Needed

Parkmont is looking for a basketball coach to lead our Panthers this season! Without a coach, we won’t be able to have a basketball season—and our kids are eager to play.

We have two teams (girls and boys), and tryouts begin in November. Practices will start in December, with games running through January and February.

Practices can be scheduled before or after school, depending on the coach’s availability. Games are held both at Parkmont and at neighboring elementary schools in our attendance area.

Coaches receive a stipend, and more importantly, get to make a big difference for our student athletes.

If you’re interested—or know someone who might be—please reach out to me, Walt Lewis, at [email protected]
.
Thank you for helping us keep Panther basketball alive. Go Panthers! 🐾

 Parkmont Panther Important Reminders

Here's a Few Reminders Regarding School Policies and Procedures:

No Glass Containers at School
For the safety of all students, glass containers are not permitted on campus. We’ve noticed some students bringing lunches in glass jars or bottles, which can easily break and cause injuries. Please help us keep everyone safe by sending food and drinks in plastic, metal, or other non-breakable containers. Thank you for your support!

Lost and Found Items
Our Lost and Found rack is located between the school library and the school office. If your child is missing something, please take a moment to check there. To help items find their way back more easily, be sure to label all water bottles, lunch boxes, backpacks, and clothing with your child’s name. We have many students with the same items, and things can accidentally end up with the wrong family.
For smaller items such as glasses, jewelry, watches, or cash, we keep them safely in the school office until they are claimed. If your child is missing something valuable, please stop by the office to check.

Traffic Safety
Please help us keep our students and community safe by following all traffic rules and laws around our school. Do not park in front of driveways, double-park, or move the trash cans of our residential neighbors. Students may not be dropped off in the middle of the street. We ask that you either park in the residential area and walk your child onto campus, or use the Kindergarten Drop-Off Loop for a safe and efficient option. Please also remember that the parking lots in front of our school are reserved for staff only.

Parents/Guardians and Other Adults on Campus
With our large student population, it’s important that we maintain clear procedures to keep everyone safe. Please remain behind the red painted lines at all times when dropping off in the morning or picking up after school.
There are four exceptions:
  • TK Families: Please drop children off directly with their teachers in front of the TK classrooms. Enter the campus from the right side of the library, and pick up your child at the location designated by their teacher.
  • Kinder Families: Drop children off at the designated Kinder/TK playground area in the morning, and pick them up directly from the teacher at the assigned pick-up spot each afternoon.
  • Office Visitors/Volunteers: Parents who need to visit the office, have an appointment with staff, or are volunteering must check in and sign in at the school office. Please wear your volunteer or visitor sticker in a visible place so staff can confirm you are cleared to be on campus.
  • Parents Dropping Off Lunch or Water Bottles: Please leave these items on the white table in front of the school office. We are not able to interrupt classrooms during instructional time, but all students know to check this table if something has been dropped off.
  • Note: We are not able to accept late homework, projects, or library books. Students should bring those items on the next school day.

Civicore Volunteer Registration

We love and really appreciate our school volunteers! Please remember that all FUSD school volunteers are required to be cleared through the Civicore approval process each year. You may start that process now so you are cleared and “ready to go” when a volunteer opportunity that you are interested in arises.

This link is for the FUSD website “Volunteer Opportunities” page. Please click the “Volunteer Opportunities - Civicore” button to begin the clearance process.

  • If you already have a CiviCore account from last year, please log in and update it as soon as possible. Be sure to include your child’s current grade and teacher and upload a copy of your photo ID.
  • If you plan to drive for any field trips this school year, you must also complete the Transportation and Insurance section of the application. This requires uploading a copy of your current auto insurance binder (your insurance company can email you this document if needed).
Thank you for taking care of this early so you’re ready to join us in the classroom, on field trips, and at school events!
