Hello Parkmont Panther Families,
As the days get longer and the sunshine starts calling everyone outside, it’s no surprise that a little “spring fever” begins to bloom in our classrooms—and at home too! While energy levels rise and attention spans may wander, April is the perfect time to help our students strengthen two important character traits: perseverance and determination.
Perseverance means sticking with something even when it’s challenging. Determination is having the drive to keep going and do your best. Together, these traits help our students push through distractions and finish the school year strong!
Here are some practical ways to support your child at home:
- Keep Routines Blooming: Consistent routines help build perseverance. When kids know what's expected thaey are more likely to stiick with tasks.
- Break time is Brain Time: Determination doesn’t mean working nonstop! Short outdoor breaks can recharge your child’s brain and help them come back ready to focus and try again.
- Encourage Stick With It Moments: When your child gets frustrated, remind them that mistakes are part of learning. A little encouragement goes a long way.
- Channel that Spring Energy: Spring brings lots of energy, let’s use it! Activities like sports, art, or family walks are great ways for kids to practice determination while having fun.
We also recently enjoyed our Spring Variety Show, featuring wonderful performances from students in TK through fifth grade. The show was a fantastic reflection of our students’ talents, creativity, and determination. There are so many amazing Parkmont Panthers to thank, including our teachers, staff, families, and volunteers. A special thank you to Jaya Vikram for coordinating the event and to Mike Quinne for generously donating his time and sound equipment. It was a truly memorable evening and a chance to see our students shine in new and exciting ways!
Have a great April, Parkmont Panthers!

Our fifth grade students recently had the opportunity to participate in both on-site and overnight Science Camp experiences that brought learning to life in exciting ways.
In February, students explored the wonders of the universe right here on campus through a SkyDome Planetarium set up in our multi-purpose room, where they enjoyed an engaging presentation about the stars and night sky. They also took part in hands-on science experiments led by High Tech High Touch of Silicon Valley, sparking curiosity and deepening their understanding through interactive learning.
In March, thanks to the support of our PTA, students attended an overnight field trip at the Chabot Space and Science Center. This memorable experience allowed them to further explore science in a real-world setting while building independence and strengthening connections with their peers.
These opportunities were made possible through the collaboration of our dedicated fifth grade team, school administration, and our incredible PTA. It’s truly amazing what we can accomplish when we work together. Most importantly, these experiences were highly engaging for our students and supported meaningful learning that will stay with them for years to come.
A huger shout out to all the PTA memebrs thatr worked to help create this program and to all the volunteers that made it happen.

Every three years we are required to review our after school vendors and choose a vendor for our afterschool program. Currently, we have Adventure Time as ourt vendor. We must review applications from Adventure time and/or any other vendors interested in providing this service.
After reviewing, we will make a recommendation to our district office.
We have a committee established but need a parent representative.
The commitment ios as follows:
Following is the timeline of action items.
- April 8, 3:30-4:30, Zoom Meeting
- April 9-21 – Evaluate the vendor applications at home and/or to attend the Vendor Showcase anytime between 2:30-5:30 at the district office.
- April 22, 3:30-4:30, Zoom Meeting
Please let me know ( [email protected]) As Soon As Possible if you are interested in joining this committee as thje parent representative.

Hello Parkmont Families,
One of the reward tiers for participating in the Panther Prowl last October—and raising $150 or more—was a special photo opportunity with Parkmontie, our celebrity school mascot! We’re excited to share that we’ve finally scheduled the photo day for April 17th.
If your child raised $150 or more during the Panther Prowl, they will be called out of class to take their photo with Parkmontie.

Our PTA does amazing work to support ALL students at Parkmont. Our PTA hosts events for our entire community, provides funding to assist with classroom needs, and provides volunteers for our many activities and events. Let's all join this wonderful organization as part of the membership drive.

We love and really appreciate our school volunteers! Please remember that all FUSD school volunteers are required to be cleared through the Civicore approval process each year. You may start that process now so you are cleared and “ready to go” when a volunteer opportunity that you are interested in arises.
This link is for the FUSD website “ Volunteer Opportunities” page. Please click the “Volunteer Opportunities - Civicore” button to begin the clearance process.
- If you already have a CiviCore account from last year, please log in and update it as soon as possible. Be sure to include your child’s current grade and teacher and upload a copy of your photo ID.
- If you plan to drive for any field trips this school year, you must also complete the Transportation and Insurance section of the application. This requires uploading a copy of your current auto insurance binder (your insurance company can email you this document if needed).
Thank you for taking care of this early so you’re ready to join us in the classroom, on field trips, and at school events!
