This February, Parkmont Elementary is focusing on Citizenship, an important character trait that aligns closely with our PBIS expectations of taking care of self, taking care of others, and taking care of business.
Being a good citizen means making choices that help our school community thrive—following school expectations, caring for shared spaces, helping others, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
February offers two meaningful connections to citizenship:
Valentine’s Day reminds us to show kindness, empathy, and respect. At Parkmont, this looks like including others, using kind words, and treating classmates with care—key ways we practice taking care of others.
🇺🇸 Presidents’ Day invites us to learn about leaders who served others and took responsibility for their actions. This connects directly to taking care of self and taking care of business as students learn what it means to be responsible and engaged citizens in our community.
Throughout the month, students will be recognized for demonstrating citizenship by meeting PBIS expectations in classrooms, on the playground, in the hallways, and beyond.
When students are taking care of self, taking care of others, and taking care of business, they are showing what it truly means to be a Parkmont Panther.
Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to build strong character and a positive school community—one Panther choice at a time.
And speaking of our Parkmont community, I’d like to take a moment to give a big shout-out to our wonderful PTA members for their successful Cultural Fair.
This exciting evening featured cultural tables, dancing, and even a fashion show celebrating traditions from around the world.
Coordinating and bringing together an event like this is no easy task, and I am incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and care our PTA put into making it such a meaningful experience.
Their efforts beautifully highlighted the diversity of our Parkmont community and created a memorable night for our students and families.
Thank you for helping make Parkmont such a welcoming and vibrant place for all.
