Panther News and Updates

Hello Parkmont Families,

As we head into the excitement of the December holiday season, we know this time of year brings extra joy—and sometimes extra distractions—for our students.

At school, we are continuing to keep routines steady and learning purposeful, and we appreciate your partnership in helping students stay focused on opur way to the winter break.

Here are a few ways you can support your child during this busy time:
  • Maintain consistent routines at home, including bedtime and morning schedules. Students learn best when well-rested and supported by predictable structure. This can be hard to accomplish as we celebrate many of our cultural holidays at this time of year.
  • Talk with your child about staying focused at school and doing their best each day. A quick check-in goes a long way.
  • Encourage your child to complete homework and read regularly, even with holiday activities happening.
  • Help your child come to school ready to learn—on time, prepared, and dressed appropriately for cooler weather.
  • Celebrate their efforts and remind them how proud you are of their progress so far this year.
Despite the busy season, we continue to see students thriving academically and socially, and we are grateful for the strong partnership of our Parkmont community.

Report cards have been posted in the AERIES Parent Portal. This is a good time to talk about goals with your child for the second trimester. Directions for accessing report cards in AERIES is in this newsletter. If you need a paper copy of the report card, please reach out to your child's teacher or the front office and we will provide one for you.

Thanks for all you do for our Parkmont Panthers.

Mr. Lewis

Basketball season is soon upon us. A huge welcome to Coach Preetu Singh, one of our dynamic parents, as she has agreed to coach our Panthers this year.

Try outs for the Boy's team starts the day we return from Fall break (right afterschool on December 5th). For the Girl's team try outs begin December 6th.

Following is a question and answer sheet with all of the information necessary to partiicpate.

A reminder, students cannot try out if we do not have a clearance from a Doctor. If students were in run club and submitted a clearance form we can use that. We cannot use forms from last school year. The Doctor may use the following attached clearance form or provide their own note or form.

Civicore Volunteer Registration

We love and really appreciate our school volunteers! Please remember that all FUSD school volunteers are required to be cleared through the Civicore approval process each year. You may start that process now so you are cleared and “ready to go” when a volunteer opportunity that you are interested in arises.

This link is for the FUSD website “Volunteer Opportunities” page. Please click the “Volunteer Opportunities - Civicore” button to begin the clearance process.

  • If you already have a CiviCore account from last year, please log in and update it as soon as possible. Be sure to include your child’s current grade and teacher and upload a copy of your photo ID.
  • If you plan to drive for any field trips this school year, you must also complete the Transportation and Insurance section of the application. This requires uploading a copy of your current auto insurance binder (your insurance company can email you this document if needed).
Thank you for taking care of this early so you’re ready to join us in the classroom, on field trips, and at school events!
