Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope everyone had a relaxing break. Weibel staff is currently preparing for an awesome school year ahead. In this newsletter, we have information regarding our new bell schedule, gate entrances, student pick up/drop off procedures, breakfast/lunch programs, important dates (such as Back to School Nights) and much more! We ask that you take a few minutes of your time to view this newsletter in its entirety.
Our first day of school is on Wednesday, August 14th. The first 3 days are all minimum days. On the first day of school (and ONLY on the 1st day of school), parents will be allowed to help their child find their classroom line. We will also have Coffee with the Principal on the 1st day of school as a kick off to the 2024-2025 school year! Please join me in the MUR @ 8:30am after you say goodbye to your child at the gate. We will have drinks and snacks along with ways to find out how you can get more involved as a parent at Weibel. PTO will be sponsoring this event and sharing information on how we can build our community at Weibel.
I thank you in advance for cooperating and following current changes and future changes as they arise. Please be on the lookout for the District & the Superintendent’s newsletters as they have the most updated information regarding our district procedures. I look forward to seeing everyone on August 14th.
Thank you,
Ms. Lee

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
What happened to PE?
PE at elementary sites are considered “PREP” classes. These classes are there for classroom teachers to have some preparatory time for their instruction. Each site is allotted an x amount of prep time strictly by the student enrollment size. For the 24-25 school year, Weibel has been allotted 2 full time employees for prep. When there is a decrease of prep, the decisions are made by seniority of the employees. Therefore, our PE instructor had to be “surplussed” (transferred) to another school site in FUSD. We wish the best of luck to Mr. Xiatrey at Leitch/Hirsch Elementary sites.
What does this mean for our students?
ALL elementary teachers are qualified to teach PE as they have a multiple subject credential. In addition, we have to be in compliance with the state mandated 200 minutes of PE every 10 days. Our elementary teachers use a variety of instructional methods(games, exercise, healthy habits, wellness activities, etc.) to meet the mandated minutes. In addition, we require a monthly accountability of how students are receiving their 200 minutes of PE.
How are we preparing for this school year?
To better prepare our students, Weibel staff dedicated one full day of professional development to physical education planning and implementation before starting the school year. The PD will be led by the instructors from California Physical Education-Health Project. We can assure you that our students will have PE instruction all year.
SNACK DONATIONS!
Weibel staff loves snacks, especially chocolates and candies. We have an ongoing candy/chocolate drawer in our staff room. If you are feeling generous and would like to donate, please feel free to drop them off at the office. We ask that these are individual items, so that the staff can grab and go as they need a little energy boost throughout the day.
Please call the Weibel attendance line each time your child is absent or late to school. Leave a message with the reason for your child’s absence or tardy, a reason must be entered in order for the absence/tardy to be excused. Please include the teacher’s name, your child’s first name, last name, your name & phone number.

If you are notifying a teacher via email about an upcoming absence/late drop off/early pick up, please include our attendance clerk: rtoro@fusdk12.net
Gate Closures
Due to the safety plans, protocols, and related health and safety measures, Weibel will continue to follow the same rules as last year.
Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the blacktop in the mornings. Please be ready to say goodbye at the gate.
Little Foot and Paseo gates will be open during 8am-8:25am and again at 2:40pm. If you are dropping off at the Paseo gate, PLEASE park your car and walk your child over to the gate. DO NOT stop and create your own drop off lane – It is a BIKE lane.
The back school gate near the MUR will be LOCKED ALL DAY. You can still use the Little Foot gate entrance as a shortcut, but will have to walk around the school to get to the main entrance.
