WEIBEL GOODBYES |
| It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of valued members of our staff who will be moving on to new opportunities at other schools in FUSD. Both of them has left a meaningful impact on our students, colleagues, and the school community. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism will be greatly missed. |

Hi Parents/Caregivers,
I hope you are all well! Time has flown by and now the end of the year is upon us.
For our 5th graders, this remaining month signals the end of their time in elementary school and there may be feelings of nervousness or anxiety. Of course, this is also a time for celebration and excitement! All of these feelings are completely normal. I encourage you to open up a dialogue with your student(s), if you haven’t already done so, about any fears or worries they may have about transitioning to middle school. If you need any additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Here are some resources for parents with students transitioning into middle school:
In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to take some time to talk about the importance of taking care of our mental health. Our mental health is impacted by so many factors – including relationships, environments, traumas or adversities, and our physical health. Ways to improve our mental health include connecting with others, practicing mindfulness and gratitude, prioritizing rest and recovery (e.g., getting enough quality sleep, taking breaks), and becoming more physically active (e.g., going for walks, playing games, doing yoga). When we are intentional about our self-care practices, we not only are actively improving our mental health but also modeling these behaviors to our children. When we model, children learn and gain new tools for their social/emotional toolbox.
It is also important to remember that there is no shame in talking about mental health or experiencing mental health challenges. When we talk about mental health, we are reducing stigma, encouraging early intervention, and fostering empathy and understanding. By normalizing conversations around mental health, we are “nurturing a more compassionate society where individuals feel empowered to seek help, leading to improved mental wellbeing” (National Council for Mental Wellbeing). As we wrap up this school year and approach the second half of the calendar year, ask yourself – are there any changes you’d like to make or strategies you’d like to implement for the betterment of your mental, emotional, or physical health? This is a great time to reflect and take action!

As always, if you have any questions about the counseling services offered at Weibel or if you’d like to refer your student to counseling, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My goal this year is to make sure that all of our students feel supported and successful while they are here at school.
Warmly,

As the school year comes to a close, we want to thank all the incredible Student Council members for their hard work, creativity, and leadership throughout the year. From organizing candy gram sales and collecting jacket donations to designing posters and leading spirit days by example, you’ve made a meaningful impact on our school community. Your commitment to service, teamwork, and school spirit has been inspiring.
We are so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and look forward to seeing how you continue to grow as leaders. Have a restful and joyful summer!
