Principal’s Message:

Hello Families,

As we reach the end of another remarkable school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together and to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you.
This year has been filled with growth, learning, and countless joyful moments.  I am so proud of the perseverance, kindness, and curiosity our students have shown throughout the year.

To our families of students who are moving on to new schools or adventures: thank you for being part of our community. You will always have a home here at Weibel.  We will miss you greatly.

As we head into summer, I encourage everyone to enjoy the time off—soak in the sunshine, spend quality time together, and keep those young minds curious with books, conversations, and play.  We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall for another exciting year of learning and discovery.

With warmest regards and appreciation,

Ms. Lee

Dear Weibel Elementary School Community,
On behalf of the entire staff, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the incredible generosity and kindness you showed during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. The variety of breakfast items, snacks, drinks, and thoughtful treats you provided made each day feel extra special for the entire staff.  Your support and appreciation truly lifted our spirits and reminded us how lucky we are to be part of such a caring school community. It was a wonderful way to wrap up the school year, and we’re so grateful for your thoughtfulness.

With sincere thanks,
Weibel Elementary Staff

WEIBEL GOODBYES

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of valued members of our staff who will be moving on to new opportunities at other schools in FUSD.  Both of them has left a meaningful impact on our students, colleagues, and the school community. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism will be greatly missed.

Hi Parents/Caregivers,

I hope you are all well! Time has flown by and now the end of the year is upon us.

For our 5th graders, this remaining month signals the end of their time in elementary school and there may be feelings of nervousness or anxiety. Of course, this is also a time for celebration and excitement! All of these feelings are completely normal. I encourage you to open up a dialogue with your student(s), if you haven’t already done so, about any fears or worries they may have about transitioning to middle school. If you need any additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Here are some resources for parents with students transitioning into middle school:

In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to take some time to talk about the importance of taking care of our mental health. Our mental health is impacted by so many factors – including relationships, environments, traumas or adversities, and our physical health. Ways to improve our mental health include connecting with others, practicing mindfulness and gratitude, prioritizing rest and recovery (e.g., getting enough quality sleep, taking breaks), and becoming more physically active (e.g., going for walks, playing games, doing yoga). When we are intentional about our self-care practices, we not only are actively improving our mental health but also modeling these behaviors to our children. When we model, children learn and gain new tools for their social/emotional toolbox.

It is also important to remember that there is no shame in talking about mental health or experiencing mental health challenges. When we talk about mental health, we are reducing stigma, encouraging early intervention, and fostering empathy and understanding. By normalizing conversations around mental health, we are “nurturing a more compassionate society where individuals feel empowered to seek help, leading to improved mental wellbeing” (National Council for Mental Wellbeing). As we wrap up this school year and approach the second half of the calendar year, ask yourself – are there any changes you’d like to make or strategies you’d like to implement for the betterment of your mental, emotional, or physical health? This is a great time to reflect and take action!

Here are some additional resources:

Reminder about upcoming parent workshop:

For additional questions about the workshop, please contact Chandan Shergill at [email protected]

As always, if you have any questions about the counseling services offered at Weibel or if you’d like to refer your student to counseling, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My goal this year is to make sure that all of our students feel supported and successful while they are here at school.

Warmly,

Kiauna Day-Smith
