1/31/24 Community Update

January 31, 2024

Dear Fremont Unified Community,

Before school this morning, a Robertson High School student was taken into custody at an off-campus location by the Fremont Police Department after the student posted a threatening message to social media.

The safety of our students, staff and community is our highest priority. The District provided assistance to the Fremont Police Department (FPD) upon being notified of the situation, and we thank FPD for its quick response to address this potential threat and ensure there was no impact to students, staff or the school campus.

While the District will assign consequences as appropriate and permissible under the law and related education code, FPD is the lead agency on this ongoing investigation, and the District will not release further details to protect student confidentiality.

I extend my gratitude to the Fremont Police Department and School Resource Officers for their response and support to ensure our schools continue to be safe for students and staff.

As always, we encourage you to be vigilant in regard to the safety of our schools, and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement and our school administrators as appropriate.

Students may want or need help processing their emotions and thoughts on this situation. Please encourage them to reach out to a staff member, school counselor or the school office for support.

I appreciate your partnership in keeping our schools safe.

Sincerely,

CJ Cammack
Superintendent
Fremont Unified School District
