Resources for Immigrant Families
The City of Fremont is a compassionate sanctuary city, and Fremont Unified School District is a safe haven for all students. FUSD takes pride in its diversity, its community, and its schools.
At FUSD, we want to assure every family that they are welcome here, regardless of their immigration status. All students, including those who are undocumented or come from immigrant families, have the right to attend public school, participate in school activities, and receive a quality education without discrimination.Â
Under California law, school officials are not required to allow immigration agents to enter schools without a judicial warrant. Our campuses have controlled access - students and staff are safe.Â
Red Card
The Immigrant Legal Resource Center’s (ILRC) Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home. All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution.
Cards are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and 13 other languages. You may print your own card for easy reference. Physical cards will also be available at school offices in the next few weeks.
