PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

CONSIDER PUBLIC TESTIMONY REGARDING THE DISTRICT’S SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION (“SBE”) TO REQUEST THE RENEWAL OF ITS WAIVER OF CERTAIN STATUTORY BID PROCEDURES FOR THE SALE OR LEASE OF SURPLUS PROPERT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education (“Board”) of the Fremont Unified School District (“District”) at its regular board meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, will conduct a public hearing to invite and consider public testimony regarding the District’s submission of an application to the State Board of Education (“SBE”) to request the renewal of its waiver of certain statutory bid procedures for the sale or lease of surplus property found at Education Code section 17455 et seq.

On April 21, 2021, the Board declared surplus and authorized the District’s staff to proceed with the disposition of the former Marshall Elementary School Site, a 2.62-acre parcel with former school buildings located at 5301 Curtis Street in Fremont, California (“Marshall Property”). On June 15, 2022, the Board approved and authorized application to the SBE requesting a waiver of the statutory bid process, which was approved by the SBE, subject to specified conditions, at its meeting on November 2, 2022 for the period beginning September 28, 2022, and ending September 26, 2024. Due to the forthcoming expiration of the waiver, the Board will consider submitting an application to the SBE requesting the waiver be renewed.

The public hearing will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m., or soon thereafter, in the Education Center Board Room, located at 4210 Technology Drive in Fremont, California, 94538.
