In July, CollegeBoard provided Fremont Unified aggregated results for all Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken in the 2023-24 school year.

Advanced Placement® (AP) Exams within FUSD

A multi-year graph shows the continued excellence demonstrated by students across FUSD schools.

In 2023-24 across all schools, 3,971 students took at least one AP exam (an increase of 262 students from the prior year) and 9,878 total exams were administered (an increase of 377 exams from the prior year). This was achieved while also realizing a 3% increase in the District's overall AP exam passing rate, which is now at 87%.

Many FUSD students were awarded an AP Scholar distinction in 2023-24:

  • 597 AP Scholars: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams
  • 390 AP Scholars with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams
  • 1,025 AP Scholars with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams

The District recognizes and appreciates the many educators who help students gain a deep understanding of the content covered in the AP exams, and the organization of the AP program by high school AP Coordinators:

  • American High School: Sandhya Sharma
  • Irvington High School: Jason Aucoin
  • John F. Kennedy High School: Josh Hunter
  • Mission San Jose High School: Beth Bonomo, Pete Vaz
  • Washington High School: Jeff Alves, Andrea Berino

In the fall, CollegeBoard will announce its AP School Honor Roll recognizing schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
