Principal's Message
At Mission San Jose High School, we are proud to be part of one of the most academically distinguished and culturally vibrant learning communities in California. Nestled in the Mission District of Fremont, our school brings together students, families, staff, and the broader community in a shared commitment to excellence in the classroom, on the field, and in life.
The dedicated staff at MSJHS strives to create an environment where our approximately 1,770 students reach their full academic and personal potential, discover meaningful ways to contribute to their school and community, and develop the character and resilience they will carry throughout their lives.
MSJHS is consistently recognized as one of the top public high schools in the bay area and California. Our students are prepared to compete and thrive at the most selective universities in the country and around the world. We offer over 20 Advanced Placement courses across all academic departments, and our students take approximately 2,700 AP exams each year with a pass rate exceeding 95%, earning us the status of AP Platinum School. Our robust academic program includes honors courses at every grade level, and our students regularly achieve perfect SAT and ACT scores. MSJ students are accepted to MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Ivy League institutions year after year, a testament to both their individual drive and the quality of our faculty. Over 90% of our graduating seniors go on to four-year colleges and universities.
Beyond the core curriculum, MSJHS offers a rich array of elective and specialized pathways. Students may pursue coursework in Computer Science, Engineering, Business & Finance, Visual Arts, Ceramics, Digital Media, Yearbook, Creative Writing, Music Theory, Orchestra, Band, Choir, and multiple dual enrollment courses, among many others. Our World Language offerings include Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and French. With a 99% graduation rate and outstanding A-G completion, our students are thoroughly prepared for the rigors of higher education.
MSJHS is home to over 80 student clubs and organizations: from Science Olympiad, DECA, Model United Nations, and Math Olympiad, to cultural affinity clubs, community service organizations, and the arts. Our award-winning Science Olympiad team and Academic Decathlon program have achieved recognition at the state and national levels. The MSJ Speech & Debate team, Universal Performers, and journalism program consistently earn top honors at regional and state competitions. Each year, MSJ students raise significant funds and volunteer thousands of hours in service to our Fremont community and beyond.
Our student athletes compete across more than 30 varsity sports and have earned numerous Mission Valley Athletic League and North Coast Section championships. Most recently, in 2026, our Boys Basketball team claimed the NCS Championship title and went on to finish 2nd in the Division 5 NorCal playoffs, a remarkable achievement that reflects the grit, teamwork, and competitive spirit that define MSJ athletics. Our student athletes balance rigorous academic schedules with elite athletic competition and consistently maintain outstanding grade point averages . This is a reflection of the discipline and work ethic that define the Mission San Jose spirit.
Our students are very much critical thinkers, compassionate leaders, and global citizens. Our teachers and staff are committed to building meaningful relationships with students because relationships inspire intellectual curiosity, ethical responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.
It is the privilege of a lifetime to serve this extraordinary community of learners, educators, and families. Welcome to Mission San Jose High School, where excellence is our standard and every student belongs.
