2024 District Sustainability Update

On May 8, 2024, the Fremont Unified School District Board of Education received a Sustainability Update collaboratively prepared by staff across divisions and departments. Staff from the Curriculum and Instruction, Transportation, Maintenance and Operations, and Child Nutrition Services departments presented.

This provides an update since the 2023 Sustainability Update, and outlines the many efforts since the 2018-19 school year when FUSD first brought forward resolutions highlighting and committing steps towards addressing our district-wide work in sustainability. Our most recent resolutions include Resolution 021-1819 Commitment to Climate Change Action; Resolution 030-2021 Educational Response to the Climate Emergency; and Resolution 025-2122 The Roosevelt Resolution: Transition to a Zero-Waste to Landfill Entity.

Resolution 030-2021 Educational Response to the Climate Emergency, was brought forward on behalf of a group of students in various FUSD high schools to implement climate literacy as part of the school curriculum at FUSD.
