Fremont Unified School District Earns Statewide Recognition for Sustainability and Environmental Leadership

Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) is proud to announce significant statewide recognition through the California Department of Education’s California Green Ribbon Schools Program, highlighting the district’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, student wellness, and high-quality environmental education. The California Green Ribbon Schools Program honors schools and districts that demonstrate exemplary achievement across three pillars of sustainability:

  • Pillar I: Reducing environmental impact and costs
  • Pillar II: Improving the health and wellness of students, staff, and school communities
  • Pillar III: Providing effective environmental education that integrates STEM learning, civic engagement, and pathways to green careers

“Being recognized as a California Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Honoree is a testament to the collective efforts of our schools, staff, students, and community,” said Superintendent Zack Larsen. “This honor reflects our commitment not only to environmental stewardship, but also to student well-being and powerful learning experiences that prepare students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”
