Fremont Unified Schools Recognized Among California’s Best: Five Campuses Named 2026 California Distinguished Schools

Fremont, CA - Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) is proud to celebrate a major achievement for our schools and community. California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond has announced the 2026 California Distinguished Schools, and five Fremont Unified campuses are among the 408 schools statewide to receive this prestigious recognition.

The following Fremont Unified schools have been recognized as 2026 California Distinguished Schools:

● American High School
● Irvington High School
● John M. Horner Middle School
● Thornton Middle School
● Washington High School

“Our public schools are a cornerstone of the Fremont community, and recognitions like this reflect the excellence, innovation, and opportunity taking place in our classrooms every day. Continued community support, including investments that strengthen school facilities, programs, and resources, plays a vital role in helping our students thrive and ensuring our schools remain places where every child can succeed,” said Fremont Unified School District Superintendent Zack Larsen.
