Fremont, CA — The California Department of Education released 2024–25 statewide assessment results today showing continued academic progress for students across California. Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) again performed well above both state and county averages in all tested areas, reflecting the district’s strong instructional programs and commitment to student learning.

These results show that Fremont Unified continues to deliver strong, consistent outcomes for students across every grade span,” said Elie Wasser, Director of Assessment & Accountability. “We’re especially encouraged by the recovery we’re seeing at the middle and high school levels and by the continued improvement of student groups supported through our Multi-Tiered System of Support. With new investments in literacy training, data-informed instruction, and early intervention, we’re positioning our students for sustained growth in the years ahead.”

In 2025, 73.7% of FUSD students met or exceeded standards in English Language Arts, 68.9% in Mathematics, and 61.1% in Science, compared with statewide averages of 48.8%, 37.3%, and 32.7%, respectively. While ELA and Math results remained largely stable from the prior year (each down just 0.1%), Science proficiency increased by 1.8 percentage points, outpacing Alameda County’s improvement and nearly matching the state’s 2.0% gain.

Several student groups showed meaningful progress. Socioeconomically Disadvantaged students continued a multi-year trend of improvement, gaining +1.1% in ELA, +1.3% in Math, and +3.4% in Science. Long-Term English Learners (LTELs) demonstrated growth across all subjects as well, with increases of +2.0% in ELA, +1.8% in Math, and +0.2% in Science; reflecting the district’s sustained investment in language-development supports and data-informed intervention.

FUSD’s assessment data will be included in the California School Dashboard update this November, which will provide additional context for student growth and progress across all indicators.
