Irvington High School Open on Monday, October 7, 2024

Irvington High School will be open with a regular schedule on Monday, October 7, 2024.  

Irvington’s electrical infrastructure has been closely inspected for safety and functionality by District and site staff, PG&E representatives, and outside contractors. Extensive work is needed to permanently address inadequacies with the school’s power system, as power demands will continue to exceed what the school’s current infrastructure can handle.

In the meantime, we have redistributed electrical connections to lessen the demand on our aging systems and brought in temporary equipment and power sources to restore adequate conditions for Irvington’s students and staff.

Later this week, IHS will provide information for any family seeking independent study work to make up for the missed time, although that will not be a requirement.

We sincerely thank each of our students, families, and employees for their cooperation and support at this time. We know each school day is important for learning, socializing, and much more, and we are eager to welcome you back to Irvington on Monday.

We also thank the teams working through the weekend and onward to get school open and avoid future outages. We greatly appreciate their dedication to our students' and staff's safety and well-being.
