Fremont Unified School District

Superintendent's Newsletter
September 29, 2023

Dear Fremont Unified Community,

CJ CammackThe days are busy in Fremont Unified! Instruction and fall sports are in full swing, and we are in Homecoming season with the first dance last week, one this week, and three more to come. We have more great news coming in from around the District, which I’m excited to share.

First, congratulations to the 105 Fremont Unified seniors representing each of our comprehensive high schools who were named National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists for 2024. The consistently high number of semifinalists in Fremont Unified is a strong indicator of our students’ dedication to academic excellence, and underscores the strength of our district’s educators, schools and community.

Please also join me in congratulating three of our elementary schools for being recognized by California PBIS for successful implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs. Patterson was awarded a Silver Implementation Award, and both Brookvale and Oliveira earned a Bronze Implementation Award. These school communities and their outstanding staff exemplify the commitment across Fremont Unified to supporting students.

Finally, next week 2023 Fremont Unified Teacher of the Year Rachel Brown will be among the teachers honored at the Alameda County Teacher of the Year Awards. I was thrilled to visit Mrs. Brown’s classroom at Mission San Jose Elementary School last week, and was grateful to experience the authentic, respectful and trusting culture she has built with her students. I am so proud and humbled to work for fantastic educators like Mrs. Brown in Fremont Unified!

I thank everyone for their cooperative efforts to serve and support students in our classrooms and beyond.

October 16 & 18, 2023 Fremont Unified School District School Funding Presentations

October 16 & 18: School Funding Presentations

Fremont Unified School District is working hard to make sure we can maintain the core educational services upon which our students rely, and which keep our community a desirable place to live, work and raise a family. But, as you may know, Fremont Unified is among the lowest funded school districts in Alameda County.

All community members are invited to join Superintendent CJ Cammack and Fremont Unified leadership on October 16 or 18 to learn about school funding in California, the implications for FUSD, and the process for budget design in dynamic economic realities.

Session One

Monday, October 16, 2023, 6-7pm
Washington High School, Husky Theater

Session Two

Wednesday, October 18, 2023, 6-7pm
Mission San Jose High School, C120 (Theater)

Join the conversation by attending or streaming either session, and/or submitting questions in advance. Both sessions will include the same presentation, and a recording will be posted following the events.

Visit our Events webpage to submit questions or comments that may be addressed during the presentation, and to access the event livestream.
