2024 Ohlone for Kids & Teens Opportunity

Fremont Unified School District is excited to share an enrichment / extended school year opportunity for elementary and secondary students this summer. Ohlone College and FUSD have an agreement in place to permit eligible FUSD students under the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) to attend the 2024 Ohlone for Kids & Teens Enrichment Program at no cost to the student’s family.

Ohlone for Kids & Teens (OFK) offers summer enrichment courses to students in the East Bay so that all children can continue to have an enjoyable and creative learning process over the summer. Offerings include core classes and many new and exciting courses designed for personal and academic enhancement, skill development, and recreational enjoyment. The Ohlone for Kids & Teens Summer Enrichment Program is offered from June through August 2024.

Eligibility:

  • All K-12 FUSD students enrolled in the 2023-24 school year who meet the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) qualifications as unduplicated students are eligible. This includes:
    • English Learners
    • Foster Youth
    • Family identified for McKinney-Vento assistance
    • Students designated as Migrant Education program
    • Students who are eligible for for free or reduced priced lunches
  • Please email Steven Musto (smusto@fusdk12.net) for any questions you may have regarding eligibility.
  • Eligibility will be determined through the application process with FUSD ELO-P (see instructions below).
  • Only current FUSD students and families who have their eligibility verified through this application process will have their fees waived.

Note: This program is an enrichment opportunity for FUSD students and is not a child care program. Food services, transportation, and other child care arrangements are not included and will be the responsibility of the family. We will reach out to the family to review other options available.

Application process for students and families (pdf of presentation slides):

Step 1: Find a class in the Ohlone for Kids & Teens Enrichment Program:

  • Students and families can review the course offering in the Ohlone For Kids & Teens Program at their website.
  • If there is an interest in signing up for a class, students and families move to Step 2 prior to enrolling in the class. Do not sign up for the class at this time.

Step 2: Application for FUSD ELO Program :

  • Complete the FUSD Ohlone Summer 2024 application.
  • After completing this application, FUSD will email you to notify you of your application status within three business days.
  • If you are approved, FUSD will provide you with the instructions to complete enrollment with Ohlone. If you are not approved, FUSD will notify you why you are not eligible for this coverage.
  • FUSD will not arrange any reimbursement of fees paid prior to ELO-P approval.
