Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P)

Extended Day Care Information

All FUSD elementary schools will work with a community partner program to provide extended day (before/after school) and enrichment programs for enrolled students (Parent/Guardian funded). See the table below for website links.

ELO-P General Information

The California Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) provides funding for before school, after school, summer and intersession learning programs for eligible students in transitional kindergarten through 6th grade. In FUSD, eligible students and families can participate at approved locations at no cost.

At each FUSD elementary school campus, before and after school care are available through designated extended day community partners. During intersessions in the school year schedule, child care and enrichment programs are available to eligible ELO-P students and families.

Eligibility for Programs

Registered and enrolled FUSD students in grades TK-6 who are designated in one or more specific categories as follows are eligible for ELO-P:

  • English Learners (EL) – Students identified as English Learners. Please see this FUSD webpage for more information about English Learner identification and programs.
Note: TK students cannot be designated as English Learners. In June 2024, California passed AB 2268 which eliminated ELPAC requirements to Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students.
  • Free or Reduced Meal Program eligibility – Free or Reduced Meal Program eligibility is specific measurement established by the US Department of Agriculture. Student meals in California are free for the 2024-25 school year, however, students are identified for ELO-P eligibility based on this information. Free or Reduced Meal Program eligibility is based on the Total Household Income collected from parents during yearly student registration (Total Household Income includes Gross earnings from work (before taxes and other deduction), Welfare, Child Support, Alimony, Pensions, Retirement, Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Veteran’s benefits, disability benefits, Overtime Pay, etc.).
  • Migrant Education Program – The CA Department of Education Migrant Education Program identifies a designated migrant student who has moved across state or school district lines with a migrant parent or guardian to obtain temporary or seasonal employment in an agricultural, fishing or food processing activity within the past three years.
  • Foster Youth and McKinney-Vento Program - Students identified for either program are eligible.

ELO-P eligibility is granted for one school year. Parents/guardians must re-apply to the FUSD ELO Program each year. If you have any questions, please contact ELOP@fusdk12.net
