Transitional Kindergarten
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. TK is designed to provide a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children turning 5 years old after the kindergarten window.
2024-25 TK enrollment is open to children with birthdays from September 2, 2019 to June 2, 2020.
About Transitional Kindergarten
The TK program addresses the young child’s language, literacy, and pre-math skills and emphasizes social and emotional development. TK provides young learners with a readiness year that will prepare them for success in traditional Kindergarten and beyond.
FUSD Schools that offer Transitional Kindergarten in 2024-25: All Elementary within Fremont Unified School District have at least one TK class at each school with the exception of Warm Springs Elementary with Grade 3-5.
TK Spanish & Mandarin Immersion Classes
Spanish Immersion TK is offered at Blacow Elementary, and Mandarin Immersion TK is at Lila Bringhurst Elementary. Immersion education is an alternative educational model designed to provide students with fluency and literacy in two languages. In these programs, all students develop literacy in the target language first with the gradual addition of English.
