Moderate

The Moderate Program at Mission San Jose teaches Personal Management, Independent Living, Functional Math and English, and Pre-Vocational Skills. We focus heavily on Social Skills and Communication through direct instruction, games, activities, and practice. We practice daily Mindfulness training through meditation, thankfulness journals, and discussion.

Students are taught functional Math, Science, English, Art, Cooking and Social Studies through project based learning.

We have a weekly CBI (Community Based Instruction) outing to various destinations to enrich learning and practice vocational skills. Places we have visited for CBI have been the Intel Museum, the NASA Ames Research Center, Sulphur Creek Nature Center, Shoreline Nature Exploration, Historic Rengstorff House, Ardenwood Farm, Japanese Friendship Gardens, Cloverleaf Bowling, The Oakland Zoo, the Jelly Belly Factory and many more.

Our Juniors and Seniors usually participate in ROP (Regional Occupational Program).  In ROP students learn occupational skills and participate in an internship where they can practice these skills.
