We’ll see you on August 12th for the first day of school! We hope you and your loved ones had a joyful and restorative summer. As we prepare to welcome students back to classrooms, we want to take a moment to share some exciting updates and reminders to help you and your family start the year informed and ready.
💙 A Commitment to Every Student While much has changed over the summer, one thing remains constant: our belief in the potential of every student. We are dedicated to creating safe, welcoming, and high-quality learning environments where your children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
New for This Year
✨ Fremont Unified Film Festival We’re excited to launch ourfirst-ever Fremont Unified Film Festivalthis year, a new opportunity for students to share their voices through creative storytelling. Stay tuned for more details this fall!
🟣 K–2 Reading Support
California now requires schools to screen students in grades K–2 for early reading difficulties. We’ve adopted Multitudes, a research-based tool that will help us better identify and support students who need additional help learning to read.
Celebrating Student Achievement
📚 Advanced Placement (AP®) Success FUSD students took more than11,000 AP examslast school year, more than ever before, and earned a record 88% pass rate. Congratulations to our students and families, and thank you to the educators who support this incredible work.
School Meals & Nutrition
🥗 Free Meals for All Students Every student in FUSD will continue to receivefree breakfast and lunch in the 2025–26 school year. For menus, nutrition info, and more, visitfusdcafes.org.
📌 Tip for Middle School Families Sixth-grade students should learn their student ID numbers to help make lunchtime faster and smoother.
Modern &Safe School Facilities
🚧 Summer Update This summer, more than 20 school campuses received significant facility upgrades, including new flooring, roof restorations, shaded outdoor areas, enhanced heating and cooling systems, and finalizing the rollout of new security cameras with more communication to follow.
These improvements help ensure that our students learn in environments that are safe, functional, and inspiring. We extend our sincere thanks to the voters of Fremont - your support of the Measure E facilities bond, and more recently, the nearly $1 billion Measure M bond, has made this vital work possible. Supporting All Families
👨👩👧👦 Student Safety & Immigration We know that national news about immigration enforcement may cause concern for some families. Please know:
Schools are considered “sensitive locations” where federal immigration enforcement is generally not allowed.
FUSD staff do not assist with immigration enforcement and do not share student or family information with federal agents.
Our goal is always to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and able to learn.
New Staff: Over 230 new educators and support staff have joined our schools. We’re excited to welcome them to the FUSD family!
Mandated safety training for all employees is underway to ensure our schools remain safe for everyone.
First Day Attendance Students who are not in school the first day will not be guaranteed a seat in their assigned classes, and may be overloaded to other classes/schools upon return. Parents/Guardians must notify office staff if a student will be absent for illness.
Before and After School CareFamilies of all FUSD elementary school students may contact the program providers for registration and more information.
