Options After High School

The College and Career Center is a resource area to distribute college and career materials at Washington High School (CEEB Code 050972). The goal is to provide students with up-to-date and accurate information as they explore their future education and career goals. The Center is located on the second floor of the "F" building in F243. It is open every school day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Students can drop in anytime during Husky/flex period, lunch, and before/after school. Students and parents can call or email Mrs. Ponssen with questions or set up an appointment to talk.

Specialist Profile

 

Mrs. Ponssen joined Washington High School as the College and Career Specialist (not a school counselor) in October 2021. She is a member of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC). As a first generation college student, she earned a certificate in College Admission and Career Planning and a BA degree in Economics and Social Welfare from UC Berkeley, a certificate of Accounting from University of Washington, and held licenses in insurance and securities, Series 6 & 63. She has over a decade of experience working with a variety of students as a classroom volunteer in the Spanish and Mandarin Immersion programs, PTA officer, AVID tutor, and substitute teacher.
