Peer Resource

Mission San Jose High School provides a peer resource program in accordance to the Fremont Unified School District guidelines. The purpose of the program is to provide support for all students. Peer Resource students are specially selected seniors, juniors, and sophomores who have been trained as peer mentors. The nature of this peer resource support is to encourage a good start to high school for transitioning freshmen, and academic gains, and to provide students with support.

On campus, peer resource is known as "A class here when you need it most." The Peer Resource Buddy Program provides students a place to interact with a peer mentor in a judgment-free environment, where they are listened to and help is given to those in need of a helping hand. Members of Peer Resource also spread awareness about sensitive subjects and plan events to enrich Mission's happiness levels.

Most of the contact between the student and his/her mentor will take place during the READ period time (10:33 - 10:54 AM) that proceeds third period.

If this sounds like a program you want for yourself or your student, you can contact Ms. Tiffany Stelle-Billman, at extn 37156, email [email protected] at 37081.

To apply for the class, applications for the class are released in the Spring and consist of an application form and interview.
