December 15, 2023
Dear Fremont Unified Community,
Fremont Unified schools are busy with finals, sports, performances, spirit days, celebrations and more as we count down the days until Winter Break. I send my gratitude to the many making this season bright for our students and schools.
The California School Dashboard is updating on December 15 to include data from the 2022-23 school year. The California Department of Education offers the Dashboard to share information on school and district progress across multiple measures of performance. Though Fremont Unified continues to perform well overall, we are seeing the impacts of decreased rates of attendance, and we have not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels of academic performance. The high quality instruction and needs-responsive intervention from the excellent educators in each of our classrooms will remain a focus, and our work to meet students’ social and emotional needs will continue to be of vital importance in the coming years.
On a different note, this season can also be very challenging for some individuals for a wide range of reasons. I offer us all a reminder to be aware of our own mental health needs, and to look out for each other, not only at this time of year, but each and every day. Please see below for information on Care Solace, and please: if you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org.
I wish you and your loved ones a safe and joyful close to 2023, and a happy start to 2024.
Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff and schools.
Sincerely,
CJ Cammack
Superintendent
