Maintaining Excellent Fremont Schools

We want to hear from you!

Dear Community,

Fremont was recently named the happiest city in the United States and one of the best places to raise a family. Our great schools are a big reason why families choose to live here. Recently, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced the 2026 California Distinguished Schools, and five Fremont Unified campuses have earned this prestigious recognition.

But today, funding our basic classroom programs is becoming harder. Recent federal actions to dismantle the Department of Education- which provides state and local funding- along with the recent end of voter-approved local funding, are putting significant pressure on resources for classroom teachers and STEAM programs (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), among other school services.

This means we may have to make some difficult choices soon.

Before any decisions are made, the District is reaching out to hear from you, the community we serve. We want your input to help set priorities for our schools, teachers, students, and the wider education community. Thank you to everyone who has already shared their thoughts!
