Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) assesses the physical fitness of students in grades 5, 7, and 9 in the following areas: aerobic capacity, body composition, upper body strength, abdominal strength, trunk strength, and flexibility.  The main goal of the test is to help students in starting life-long habits of regular physical activity.  Currently the California Department of Education (CDE) only requires schools to report on PFT participation rates, and not on the student’s individual performance on exam components.
