Social Media Safety
Social media can be a fun way to stay connected with friends and share, but it’s important to stay safe while using it. Sometimes, people you don’t know might try to ask for personal information. It’s always best to keep your personal details private and only accept friend requests from people you really know. If anything makes you feel uncomfortable or worried, tell a trusted adult right away.
Also, remember that what you post online can stay there forever, even if you delete it later. Before sharing photos, messages, or videos, think about how they might affect you or others. Avoid posting anything mean or hurtful. Using social media safely means being kind, smart, and careful about what you share and who you talk to.
9/24/25 Dear Families,
We want to make you aware that a social media trend known as the “Door Kick Challenge” has recently resurfaced in California. This challenge encourages teens to kick or bang on strangers’ doors while recording themselves for social media.
While it may seem like a prank, this behavior can have serious consequences, including:
- Legal issues – such as trespassing, vandalism, or property damage. Doorbell cameras are common in Fremont and police use that type of video to help investigate crimes.
- Safety risks – as homeowners could mistake the noise for a break-in and respond in dangerous ways.
Students may feel pressured to join in or record pranks for likes and views. We encourage you to take a few minutes to talk with your children about the real-world consequences of online challenges. Social media trends may be temporary, but their impact can be lasting. Encourage your student to use their online platform for positive challenges, school spirit, or acts of kindness.
Together, we can help keep our community safe and support our students in making positive choices.
