2023-2024 School Year

Starting in the 2023-24 school year, the College Board® will begin transitioning their exams to a digital format. The PSAT® offered this year will be a fully digital exam, while the SAT® will continue to be administered in a paper/pencil format. By 2024, both exams will only be offered in a digital format.

As a result of this change to a digital format, the PSAT® will be administered throughout the month of October during a window of time selected by each high school. 10th and 11th grade students taking the PSAT® will be informed of their specific test date by their school’s testing coordinator.  The SAT® will continue to be administered on a single school day identified by the College Board®.  The SAT® will be offered to 12th grade students on the SAT School Day® scheduled on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

  • 10th grade students:
All 10th grade students will have the option of taking the PSAT® at no cost. The cost is covered by the FUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Parents/guardians may opt their student out of taking this test.
  • 11th grade students:
11th grade students may choose to take the PSAT/NMSQT® for the cost of $40. 11th grade students can take the PSAT/NMSQT® at this administration in order to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
  • 12th grade students:
12th grade students may choose to take the SAT® as part of the SAT School Day® program which allows for the SAT® to be administered at their school during a school day rather than on a Saturday outside of FUSD. The SAT® will take approximately four hours to complete and costs $80.

Students in 11th and 12th grade will need to register through this link. The registration window will be open Monday, August 28, 2023 through Friday, September 8, 2023 at 5:00 pm. Payment will be collected separately by schools prior to the test administration. Students in grade 10 will automatically be ordered a test unless their parent/guardian chooses to opt the student out.

If you have questions about any of the optional tests above for high school students, please contact the appropriate testing coordinator listed below.
