Superintendent Committees

The goal is to maintain a diverse representation that includes parents, students, community members, employee organization representatives, teachers, and staff from across the district’s attendance areas. Members should bring some knowledge of the committee’s subject matter and apply through the online application process.
The meeting format will be determined by the Staff Liaison in consultation with members, with details provided in advance.

Superintendent Committee Guidelines
The Superintendent appoints the Staff Liaison, who, in turn appoints committee members and annually designates the Chair and Vice-Chair. The Liaison, Chair, and Vice-Chair serve as fair, unbiased, and effective facilitators.
General Guidelines (can be adjusted with revised bylaws)
- Suggested to meet at least three (3) times during the school year.
- Time and Dates to be set by the Staff Liaison in consultation with members.
- It is recommended that previous bylaws be reviewed and revised to remove any reference to the Brown Act or Board Trustees.
- Every effort should be made to ensure committee membership includes individuals representing all attendance areas of the district.
- Meeting agendas are recommended to be posted at least three (3) days prior to the meeting.
- All meetings of the Superintendent Committee shall be open to the public.
- Public comment will be allowed at the beginning of each meeting.
- Previous meeting notes (similar to minutes) suggested to be posted at least three (3) before the next scheduled meeting.
- A quorum is not required to hold a meeting.
- Complete Annual update (Google doc make copy) to the Superintendent.
- District leadership will provide ongoing support to the staff liaisons in fulfilling their roles.
Superintendent Committee Meeting Norms
For All Meeting Interactions:
- Be Present.
- Stay on Topic.
- Active Listening.
- Respectful Interaction.
For Each Meeting:
- Chair Starts the Meeting.
- Open Public Comment.
- Adhere to the Agenda to stay on track. During the discussion, members take turns recognized by the Chair.
- If applicable, Chair asks if a “Recommendation” is reached.
- Remind Members of Next Meeting Date and Close Meeting.
