Alumni Wisdom

Below is a list of 10 things that recent MSJHS Alumni shared, that they wish they knew in high school:

  1. Always follow your heart. Try and take the path less traveled by following what makes you happy.

  2. Encourage everyone to FAIL a course at least once. What you'll learn from that experience is far beyond what you learn from succeeding 100% of the time. "There's a lot more to life than just grades."

  3. Truly focus on your time management. It is extremely vital that you manage your time well so that you're able to take care of your body, including getting enough sleep and maintaining your mental health.

  4. Make time for a social life! Most of all, college is about the experience.

  5. Develop life skills and soft skills! Book smarts are of course important, but without soft skills and recognizing social cues, you will not reach your full potential!

  6. Persistence. Keep pushing through the difficult times and don't take no for an answer.

  7. Build healthy habits! Make sure that your health is always priority #1.

  8. Your job is to make the world a better place. Seize the day!

  9. Utilize mentorship in college through friends, professors, organizations on campus, etc!

  10. Get involved on campus & meet people--join student organizations! "You will get out of it what you put IN!"
